Chicken and Dumplings is one of my all time favorite comfort foods. With so many different ways to make it, it’s hard to pick a favorite. I decided to share this recipe first since it’s pretty easy. I plan on posting even more chicken and dumpling recipes in the future.
Chicken Stew and Dumplings | | Print |
Ingredients
- 1 3-lb. chicken, cut up
- ¼ tsp. paprika
- 2 tbsp. butter or margarine
- 1 cup water
- 1½ cups sliced onion
- ½ tsp. poultry seasoning
- 1 10oz. can cream of chicken soup
- 1 soup can water
- 2 10oz. pkg. frozen mixed vegetables
- 1-2 8oz. pkg. refrigerated biscuits (use 2 pkgs. if you prefer extra dumplings like I do)
- salt & pepper
Instructions
- Wash chicken and wipe dry
- Sprinkle with paprika, salt and pepper and set aside
- Melt butter in large skillet
- Add chicken pieces and cook until browned on all sides.
- Add water, onions and poultry seasoning and mix well
- Cover and simmer for 30 minutes
- Add soup, water and vegetables; stir until well blended.
- Cover and simmer another 30 minutes
- Tear biscuits into small pieces and arrange on top of stew
- Cover and cook 10 minutes
- Remove cover and cook 10 more minutes

I have never seen it with biscuits, I like that idea, I will have to try this out.
