This post brought to you by Thompson Creek Window Company.
Earth Week is a time of the year when everyone starts to think more consciously about how we contribute to the environment and some ways that we can help out. It’s also about celebrating the companies and people who have taken this initiative to new levels and committed themselves to making the Earth a more beautiful place for all of us to live.
One such organization is Maryland-based Thompson Creek Window Company. With over 70,000 square feet of space in their factory, they have impressive production numbers. An ENERGY STAR certified window is produced every minute and 40 seconds, which puts daily production at a whopping 250 windows a day.
Beyond their commitment to creating energy efficient products that help homeowners lower their energy bills and more, Thompson Creek also supports American businesses. They always purchase their raw materials (like vinyl, glass, aluminum and cardboard) from businesses located within the United States.
These stats are undoubtedly impressive, but we haven’t even gotten to the best part of the company yet, their annual recycling program.
It is one thing to be green-friendly and produce products that enable consumers to be environmentally-conscious. It is a whole new ball game when that same company realizes the environmental impact their debris and waste is making and decides to make a change for the better.
At Thompson Creek, they believe in taking care of the planet by recycling all the raw materials that are a by-product of window production. All the leftover glass they end up with? Over 400 tons are diverted from landfills and sent to recycling plants for reuse and redistribution every single year. All the excess aluminum, cardboard and vinyl? It’s also kept out of landfills and sent to specific programs to be reused in new applications.
All in all, we’re talking about over 550 tons of waste that may have otherwise been piled high in our country’s landfills.
Thompson Creek deserves a round of applause for all they do during Earth Week—and for the rest of the year. Celebrate this year’s Earth Week from April 20-24th and check out all the details of how Thompson Creek’s recycling program has helped the company come even closer to their goal of being a zero-waste manufacturer.

I feel like it’s great they are taking the time to recycle all the raw materials that are a by-product of their window production.

It’s great to know which companies are deserving of our business! This sounds like a fabulous company, and one I would be proud to use when I need windows.
